In view of these, I could not find anything that met them, and Brother MFC-7860DW. Although it is nice to have, if necessary, I had only my old multi-function fax again. I was not concerned about the fax capabilities of the machine. I was not worried about the size of the unit, as it should have its own table (although it is quite compact). * Ability to scan through the LAN and does not require direct USB * Compatibility across multiple OS platforms * Duplex: One of the issues that I do not like the InfoPrint 12 is the lack of duplex * Laser: the sharpness and consumables (my inkjet printer seemed to drink ink or dried up) These are the criteria I had in mind when choosing a product: At first I was just thinking of a stand-alone laser printers, both in terms of cost and function, but then decided to look at the multi-functional machines that I have an inkjet printer with multiple functions (only used by my work machine) that I had nothing against to remove. I have also discussed setting InfoPrint, but I was not sure what it would take, and I needed a solution now. I want to replace a reliable IBM InfoPrint 12, who had been in use on the network (via a router with print server) for over 10 years (and only two cartridges). I have a network with both Windows (XP and 7) and Mac (10.5.8) machines on it and needed a new printer.
